Clue 1 (Selecting the Fabric):
This is a scrappy quilt that uses
value to create the illusion of transparency. Start by selecting the
personality that you want your quilt to have. Do you want the fabrics to
reflect a holiday, say reds and greens for Christmas or blacks and oranges for
Halloween? Do you want jewel tones or soft browns and beiges? Are you a fan of
the rusts, oranges, browns, golds and greens of autumn? Once you decide your
quilt’s personality, you’ll be half way on the road to picking out the fabric.
This quilt uses 5” squares.
Ninety-nine 5” squares to be exact.
Neutral Background Fabric: 1 yd.
Dark-Medium
Fabrics: (20) 5” squares
Light to Light-Medium Fabrics:
(49) 5” squares
Border Fabric: 1 yd.
Backing Fabric: 31/2 yds.
Batting:
